Newsday

Duncan Darrow, 58, a partner in the law firm of Sidley Austin Brown& Wood, has a split allegiance to the Hamptons. During the week, he lives in New York and handles private equity work and is a legal adviser to some of Wall Street’s most prominent deal-makers. However, he devotes his weekends and much of his heart to Fighting Chance, a non-profit organization he founded in Sag Harbor. Fighting Chance focuses on giving vital information and solace to those who are looking for what is available to cancer patients in the Hamptons area. Fighting Chance is located in the Hamptons not so much because of what the area offered, but rather because of what it lacked.

When Duncan Darrow founded Fighting Chance five years ago, his goal was to help people with cancer navigate the confusing mass of information they faced after a diagnosis. Since then, Fighting Chance has matured into an organization that not only explains the resources available to people with cancer, but is itself a resource. Fighting Chance is able to offer people with cancer and their families some of the services it felt were missing elsewhere, including professional counseling.
