Client:
The Gallery Sag Harbor
Objective: Establish reputation for non-mainstream art gallery
Strategy:
The Gallery in Sag Harbor tapped WordHampton Public Relations to
develop a media relations campaign to raise their visibility and maximize
media coverage for an exhibition featuring Pop Art-style oil paintings of
former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan by Erin Crowe, an art
student.
Result:
WordHampton Public Relations achieved international and national
coverage for the January 26, 2006, launch event. CBS, Fortune, Forbes,
Crain’s, NPR Marketplace, The Wall Street Journal, Early Today, Imus In The
Morning, NBC Nightly News, CNBC, CNN, The Globe and Mail (Canada), Kyodo
News (Japan), 3Sat (German TV), Telegraph (UK), including multiple airings
on over 75 different outlets. Outreach to select bloggers resulted in a
viral effect that led to substantive online coverage. The campaign
generated over 100 million impressions within a nine-day timeframe. In
addition, CNBC was approached with the idea of having the artist paint a
portrait of Alan Greenspan on air to raise money for a charity. The network
accepted the offer airing the activity on Morning Call, Power Lunch, Closing
Bell, The Squawk Box, Kudlow & Company, Street Signs, and Squawk on the
Street. The portrait raised over $150,000 for Autism Speaks.
