Wildthyme Restaurant and Bar opened in June 2006 and is nestled in the North Sea hamlet of Southampton, N.Y. located at the former site of Q Thai Bistro. Delaney Oser and her husband Myles Romanow own the restaurant. Executive chef Michael Gomez is at the helm and specializes in regional Northeast fare, accented with Mediterranean and Asian influences. The restaurant received an “excellent” from Joanne Starkey at The New York Times, who wrote, “the rousing food sets off sparks, turning a meal into a party. Every dish sampled…deserved cheers.” This is the first restaurant venture for Myles, but his wife owns Thyme and Again, a successful catering business in Southampton for the past 11 years. Appetizers range from $11 to $16 and include: cornmeal dusted fried calamari chips with plum tomato sauce, chipotle aioli, and cucumber tzatziki; lobster salad with avocado, hearts of palm, celery water, white truffle oil; and pan roasted quail fennel with orange, basil salad, orange mint vinaigrette. Salads range from $12 to $15 and include: warm macadamia crusted goat cheese salad with black mission fig, endive, balsamic vinegar, fig syrup; and Wildthyme chopped salad with chopped romaine, feta cheese, golden raisins, cucumbers, chick peas, roasted peppers, Bermuda onions, grape tomatoes, lemon-honey vinaigrette. Entrées range in price from $21 to $30 and include: sake marinated Alaskan halibut with wok seared vegetables, lemon soy ponzu; grilled thick cut New York strip steak with house-cut bistro fries, rainbow chard, grain mustard béarnaise; braised lamb shank with roasted mushroom fregula, apricots, golden raisins, dates, almonds, madeira jus, mint oil; and wild mushroom ravioli with red wine braised mushrooms, thyme, touch of cream. Desserts range in price from $9 to $12 and include: chocolate truffle mousse cake; and Dulce de Leche banana split; and chocolate tartufo (chocolate gelato, filled with Zabaione and hazelnuts). |
