As the harvest season comes to a close this year, diners and restaurateurs will be gearing up for the return of the highly successful and much anticipated Long Island Restaurant Week. With so much culinary variety to offer and a dining scene that just keeps getting better-from new restaurants, old favorites, acclaimed chefs, world-class menus and the finest choices in regional and fusion cuisines-it's only fitting that Long Island should devote a week to indulging diners with the best food at bargain prices.

It may be a good idea to start dieting now, because next week from Nov. 4 to Nov. 11, will be Long Island Restaurant Week. During that time, a three-course prix-fixe dinner will cost $21.95 all nights except Saturday, when the deal runs only until 7 p.m. Participating restaurants include Taste in Garden City, Snaps in Wantagh, The Bellport in Bellport and Della Femina in East Hampton. On the calendar: March 26 through April 2 - Hamptons Restaurant Week - Vacationing celebs and barhopping visitors often overshadow The Hamptons’ standout restaurant scene. But for one week before high season hits, it’s prime time to discover more than 40 top spots, like Della Femina, Nick & Toni’s, Alison, and JLX Bistro –all of which are offering three-course prix fixe dinner menus for only $20. Even some local hotels and wineries are getting in on the act by reducing standard room rates and selling wines at a discount.
