The Sullivan brothers established the Southampton Publick House, located in Southampton Village on the site of historic "Herb McCarthy's Bowden Square," in July 1996 as the first and only Microbrewery/Restaurant on the East End of Long Island. The Publick House is divided into three areas, the dining room, taproom, and McSully’s Tavern. With Chef Carl Holfelder running the kitchen, Southampton Publick House has continued to elevate the cuisine offering pub classics, gourmet choices, and beer-infused dishes. The handsome restaurant features brick walls, hard wood floors, tin ceilings and a view of the brewery through windowed walls. The taproom has become a favorite Southampton hangout boasting a beautiful bar and friendly bartenders, while hosting live bands and DJs, happy hour specials, and the Hamptons’ most popular Wednesday ladies’ night. At the turn of the century, Southampton Publick House was known as Mrs. Cavanaugh’s Speakeasy. Today, remnants of the old speakeasy have been preserved in McSully’s Tavern where the original bar, wood flooring and tin ceiling remain. Burgers are a specialty at the Publick House, which was listed among the "Top 10 Burgers on Long Island" by AOL CityGuide. In addition to the traditional brewers burger, the lunch menu offers ale battered fish n' chips and Sully's famous baby back ribs. They also offer more health-minded choices with a selection of low-carb wraps like the portabella, arugula and goat cheese wrap. Dinner menu items include mussels in beer broth, ale battered onion rings, crabmeat stuffed flounder, Parmesan crusted chicken breast, 8-ounce Jr. Gorgonzola sirloin, and blackened prime rib. Desserts include triple chocolate layer cake and Snickers Chaos pie. Sunday brunch is also available. |
