Nisen Sushi in Woodbury is a new contemporary Japanese Restaurant. Owned by Robert Beer and Tom Lam Hiyashi. The new inviting space designed by Doug Horst, features high ceilings, natural color tones accented by coral and rust color splashes and a modern design element.

Executive Chef Kent Monkan’s menu at Nisen Sushi features creative Japanese dishes such as: sesame crusted calamari with wasabi sauce, spicy mayo and sweet chili $12 and sake marinated broiled sea scallops with Maitake mushrooms, Osetra caviar and truffled soy beans $18. The classic and hand roll menu offers a wide selection including: spicy tuna $7, king crab $12, spicy and salmon $7. There is also a large selection of chef’s specialty rolls: House Roll - tempura shrimp, asparagus, tuna, spicy creamy caviar $16 and Fisherman Wharf - lobster, white fish, jumbo shrimp, mango, avocado, Kirin beer dressing and rice crunchy $16. The imaginative dessert menu includes sweets such as green tea crème brulee $10 and Fuji apple fritters $10. A separate menu is offered in the lounge featuring items such as: tuna nachos $10, Kobe beef sliders $11 and baby lamb chops $12. Nisen Sushi takes its sake seriously. A temperature-controlled, glass-enclosed sake closet is located at the rear of the dining room holding over 60 offerings from $35 - $400. Arguably the largest sake lists on Long Island, diners may order sake tastings or sake by the bottle in various sizes. Creative cocktails on the drink menu include the Osaka martini with Stoli Elit, sake and pickled plum; Dragontini with Malibu rum.

Nisen Sushi serves lunch Tuesday - Friday from 12 - 3 p.m.; dinner Tuesday - Sunday from 5 - 10 p.m.; The lounge is open Tuesday - Sunday from 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. They are closed on Mondays.
