Presented by Hamptons Cottages and Gardens magazine, Donated by Sand Dollar Development Corporation The 2007 Idea House (12 Southwood Court, Amagansett, NY 11930) will open with a gala preview benefiting East Hampton’s Guild Hall on Friday, July 13th, 2007, at 12 Southwood Court in Amagansett from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets for the gala are $150 and must be purchased in advance from Guild Hall by calling (631) 324-0806, ext. 13. The Idea House, now in its fourth year, is a platform for renowned designers to create interiors and exteriors that showcase the latest in design trends and home innovations. During the gala, the house will be open to the public, as some of the most exceptional names in design turn this 9,200-square-foot Hamptons shingle-style house, donated by Sand Dollar Development Corporation, into a decorating masterpiece. Located on the former 48-acre Warner LeRoy estate, the Idea House represents the next chapter in an illustrious history. Mr. LeRoy, the man behind such famed eateries as Maxwell’s Plum, Tavern on the Green and The Russian Tea Room, was born into Hollywood elite. His father was film maker and director Mervyn LeRoy (“The Wizard of Oz”) and his mother was Doris Warner, the daughter of Harry Warner of Warner Brothers Studios fame. Proceeds from the Idea House gala preview and weekend (July 13-15) will benefit Guild Hall, said to be the first center in America to combine a theater, museum and community meeting place under one roof, setting an example for all the regional theaters to follow. Ticket sales from each weekend following the opening celebration will benefit: Parrish Art Museum, July 19-22; The Retreat, July 26-29; LongHouse Reserve, August 2-5; Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, August 9-12. The 2007 Idea House will be open to the public through August 12, 2007, every Thursday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets for these weekends are $20 (cash only). |
