The Hedges Inn is one of the Hamptons’ oldest homesteads dating back to 1652, and serving as an inn since 1870. Its reputation as a long- standing luxury lodging moves into the 21st century as a premier destination for year-round romantic retreats, relaxing vacations, family gatherings and corporate outings. In the summer of 2007, a commitment to cordial hospitality was signaled by a complete refurbishment. The inn’s twelve guest rooms and spacious common areas have been restored to a state of richness and splendor befitting of the property’s prominent stature. The landmark property is located at the gateway to East Hampton Village in New York’s famed Long Island country and beach resort, the Hamptons. Sitting on two-acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, The Hedges Inn is sheltered by the stately elm trees of James Lane and across from the picturesque Town Pond, complete with swans and cygnets. The setting is reminiscent of grand times past. Yet today’s discriminating traveler will appreciate that beyond the colonial style frontage - complete with white picket fence, sprawling lawn and sweeping porch - resides a premier luxury inn that is at once modern and contemporary. Built as a private residence on property acquired by William Hedges in 1652, the estate became an inn and remained in the family until the 1920s. Listed in The National Register of Historic Places, The Hedges Inn today retains a distinctive ambiance as a fine country home. |
