George Martin’s GrillFire is located in the heart of Rockville Centre, New York, at the former site of Max’s Grille & Tavern. Owned by George Korten, president, and Frank Greco, chef partner, the restaurant opened in October 2006 and is part of Long Island’s leading restaurant group, the George Martin Group. "The causal, rollicking storefront with a busy bar and dining room offers large portions at moderate prices," said Joanne Starkey of The New York Times, who bestowed a very good in a recent review. The restaurant is dressed in warm colors with slate wainscoting, wood tables, plush booths and behind the bar is a beautiful backlit panel of stained-glass. Five banquet tables along side the bar offer additional seating. In the dining room, booths align both sides and four center tables are evenly spaced throughout the dinning room and provide seating for 81 people. Black and white photos and mirrors in dark wood frames adorn the walls. Each booth has a lamp suspended from the ceiling for intimate lighting. The restaurant offers traditional American cuisine. Dinner salads and appetizers range from $6 to $14 and include: the George Martin chopped salad with candied walnuts, fresh mozzarella and balsamic vinaigrette; the wonton mango salad with crispy noodles, black beans and carrots in a sesame ginger dressing; spinach, artichoke and cheese dip with tortillas; and Chesapeake crab spring rolls. Specialty burgers and entrées range from $10.50 to $20 and include: bleu cheese and marinated Portobello mushroom burger; blackened turkey burger; Teriyaki glazed Ahi tuna; certified black Angus rib eye; and homemade chicken pot pie. The restaurant is also home to four unique selections of macaroni and cheese: macaroni and cheeseburger; seafood macaroni and cheese; vegetable macaroni and cheese; and chicken club macaroni and cheese. Lunch specials are priced at $7.95 and include: blackened chicken Caesar wrap; grilled marinated vegetable wrap; and a BLT panini. The restaurant is open seven days a week: Monday through Sunday for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday for dinner, from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m., Friday through Saturday for dinner, from 4:00 to 11:00 p.m., and Sunday brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. |
