This genuine American bistro puts an emphasis on prime dry-aged steaks and market-fresh seafood in a casual, yet sophisticated, atmosphere. Following its inception in 1989, the restaurant, now named George Martin The Original, promptly received two stars (very good) from The New York Times and Newsday, and was rated "Excellent" by Zagat. As the flagship restaurant of one of Long Island’s leading restaurant groups, George Martin The Original set the standard for Nick Diangelo, Max’s Grille & Tavern, George Martin’s GrillFire, and George Martin’s Coastal Grill.

The newly-renovated, multi-level dining room designed by Blasé Gallo features a handsome wood bar, classic artwork and sleek black and burgundy leather booths with white trim. The corner of the room is furnished with red leather chairs and camel-colored walls with wine bottles lining the walls. Upstairs, a Caribbean-style catering room features sand-painted walls with green and white molding.

Appetizers, ranging from $6 to $22, include Asiago dusted zucchini fries and jumbo shrimp cocktail. Entrées, priced from $18 to $38, feature: filet mignon; surf & turf; Saint Peter’s fish "piccata style;" and linguini with lobster and shrimp. "Over the top" selections enables diners to customize their steaks and chops with items such as caramelized onions or Bleu cheese crust. Desserts, priced from $6, include the signature brownie sundae with M&M’s. Lunch is a modified version of dinner dishes with sandwiches from $9 to $15 and half combinations for $6.50 to $8. Sandwiches feature sliced filet mignon and Maryland crab cake. Combinations include the classic BLT, soup du jour, and traditional Caesar salad.
