What We Do

Client: Turtle Crossing

Objective: Guide restaurant through image change, convey quality/uniqueness of fare to public

Strategy:
In 1996, WordHampton Public Relations began handling PR for Turtle Crossing, an authentic-style BBQ restaurant in the Hamptons. The eatery had been open for one year, was primarily operating as a to-go concept, and had been moderately well received in their market.

Result:
WordHampton PR saw Turtle Crossing through the expansion of their restaurant and was able to help win them a highly favorable review in The New York Times, whose reviewer named them "the best BBQ on Long Island." Capitalizing on those words, additional positive reviews and editorial were obtained in Newsday and Gourmet Magazine, resulting in the successful positioning of Turtle Crossing as the place to go for BBQ. A highlight of their successful PR campaign included a visit from then President Clinton, who dined at Turtle Crossing a few summers back when in the Hamptons for a fundraising tour. Steven Spielberg and Katie Couric are regulars, and have no doubt eyed the Turtle Crossing "Wall of Fame." Taking up an entire wall in their front room, it features dozens of framed press clips that WordHampton PR has amassed for Turtle Crossing over the years.
