Corbin & Reynolds, a contemporary new American grill and tavern, is a local landmark. Paying homage to the city’s history, the restaurant is named in honor of noted local figures, Austin Corbin and William Reynolds. Corbin formed the New York and Long Beach Railroad Company and opened Long Beach Hotel in 1880, the world’s largest hotel of its kind at the time. Reynolds was elected as Long Beach’s first mayor in 1922. The original restaurant opened in 2003 to rave reviews. In April 2007, Andre Lopez, Michael Tersigni, Jonathan Desimone, and Michael Bottari took over the restaurant introducing a brand new menu and enhancing the dining experience. The dining room features polished dark wood pillars, exposed brick walls, ceiling fans, hardwood floors and a pressed tin ceiling. A luxurious touch, tabletops are adorned with Frette linens and Rosenthal china, and Christofle champagne buckets are used for special occasions. The bar features an art deco tiled floor and a mirror-backed bar. The Mayor’s Trophy Room, overlooking the dining room, is an intimate and sophisticated space for private parties. The restaurant, which also boasts two wine cellars, is a Wine Spectator “Award of Excellence” winner. The selection emphasizes American reserves including California, Oregon, Washington and Long Island and features more than 65 wines and 18 wines by the glass. The menu, created by Executive Chef Tersigni, features seafood, pastas, poultry, all-natural steaks and homemade desserts. Appetizers include: Thai calamari and shrimp with sweet chili sauce, peanut, lime and cilantro; and colossal shrimp martini with wonton crisp, spicy cocktail sauce and mango salsa. Entrées include: Marinated skirt steak; pan seared New Zealand rack of lamb; and Tuscan gemelli tossed in a pesto sauce with pine nuts. Desserts, vary nightly and may include: Elvis in Long Beach, Corbin & Reynolds’ signature dessert, with bread pudding, chocolate peanut butter ganache and chocolate mousse; lemon sponge cake, and Twinkie Tiramisu. Specialty cocktails include: strawberry martini; lemon sorbet martini with lemonade and a scoop of lemon sorbet; and café latte with Bustelo Coffee rimmed with crushed biscotti. |
