Blue serves New American fare with a touch of inspiration from Greece. The restaurant’s name stems from an old Grecian belief that the color of the sky has the power to keep evil away. The restaurant, owned and operated by father and son team Jerry and George Stathopoulos, opened in March 2006. The sleek and elegant dining room is illuminated by sconces and warmed by a fireplace. Large oak mirrors adorn the wall above a blue banquet, as blue drapes accent the windows holding true to the restaurants namesake. Fresh flowers and candlelight complete the setting of this modern dining room. The bar occupies a separate room and features a large square-shaped oak bar and flat screen television. Co-Chefs Adam DeMartino and Tomas Manikas Jr.’s New American menu is flavored by land and sea. Appetizers range in price from $6 to $14, entrees from $21 to $40 and desserts from $6 to $9. A three-course prix fixe menu is served Monday through Friday for $23 per person. Guests may begin with fried lumb crab cakes served with cucumber and red onion salad topped with a remoulade sauce ($12); duck confit flatbread pizza ($12) or battered gorgonzola mini sirloin with tomato marmalade, onion ring and port wine reduction ($14). Dinner entrees include: pan roasted Chilean sea bass with potato roulade, carrot puree and Shiraz reduction ($30); pan seared sea scallops with mascarpone orzo “risotto,” asparagus and truffle oil drizzle ($26); braised short ribs with tomato fettuccini, vegetable ragout and merlot reduction ($25); and 20-ounce cowboy cut rib eye served with steak fries and sautéed broccoli ($40). Dessert choices include: peanut butter and jelly French toast ($8); fruit fondue – slices of apples, bananas, strawberries, and pears served with a warm chocolate and marshmallow sauce ($9); raspberry swirl cheesecake ($6); and chocolate chocolate cake ($6). The dining experience is enhanced by a variety of special promotions at the bar every weekend. On Fridays, enjoy half-priced drinks from 4 to 7 p.m. and live music beginning at 10 p.m. On Saturdays, a dj starts spinning tunes at 9:30 p.m. and ladies drink for free at the bar from 9:30 to 11:00 p.m. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 4 to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. and accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover. |
