Almondito, located in East Hampton is a one of a kind Mexican restaurant. Owned by Eric Lemonides and Jason Weiner, who also own the wildly successful Almond, the French bistro in Bridgehampton, Almondito is "an east end Mexican adventure," according to Joan Reminick of Newsday. Designed by noted interior designer Jamie Drake, the interior of the restaurant is a contrast between industrial chic and Mexican primitive. Lime green, orange, red and turquoise are splashed throughout the dining room which seats 116 amid the softly lit hanging pendants of perforated stainless steel, which adds to the Aztec style. A covered outdoor patio seating 40 in the warmer months is inviting to catch the summer breeze. Executive Chef Weiner and Chef de Cuisine John O' Connell have created a menu featuring inventive dishes emphasizing the flavors and spices that make Mexican cuisine so compelling. Appetizer selections include: Tostada Salad with chopped romaine, crisp tortilla, guacamole, pinto beans, olives, plaintains, shaved Manchego cheese and toasted cumin vinaigrette; Chorizo, Refried Bean and Frilled Onion Quesadilla with Chihuahua cheese and green table sauce. . Entrée selections include: Steak Adobo Tacos with salsa verde cruda and pico de gallo; chicken al pastor tacos with grilled tomatillo onion salsa; Cinnamon Brined Grilled Pork Chop with roasted chayote squash, grilled plaintain and pipian verde. On the "wickedly indulgent" dessert menu states John Reminick you’ll find: flourless Kahlua chocolate torte and a variety of gelatos and sorbets. Almondito also has a comfy lounge area to enjoy a cocktail. Choose from a drink menu with margaritas, mojitos, caipirinhas, sangrias and over thirty tequilas. The dinner menu is also served in the lounge, for those looking to sample a Bocadito and drink. Serving dinner six nights a week, Almondito promises an energetic atmosphere with exceptional cuisine. |
